                 ARCOT SITE MUSEUM AND HISTORY

The Archaeology Site museum, which was started in Arcot in 1980, exhibits various antiquities. It has been operating in Arcot for more than 40 years. The antiquities exhibited in this museum can be divided as follows: Pre-Islamic period artefacts and Islamic period artefacts

Stone Sculptures

Thazhanur Vinayagar Sculpture

The Vinayagar sculpture brought from the village of Thazhanur dates back to the 10th century AD. The figure wearing a crown with a crown on his head holds an angus in his right hand, a pasha in his left hand, a scythe around his neck, and a purinula on his chest. The tip of the rosary and the lower arms are broken.

Esaiyanur Buddha Sculpture
This sculpture is in the Chola style of the 11th century AD. The Buddha seated on the lotus seat has earrings in his ears and a lotus on his chest.

Poondi Durga Sculpture
Dates to the 10th century AD. He wears a crown on his head, earrings in his ears, and a wheel and a conch in his upper arms. The goddess's left foot is on a buffalo demon, her left lower arm is on her thigh, her right lower arm is on her thigh, and a lion is near her feet.

Nandhiyam Bhairava Sculpture
A 10th century AD Chola era Bhairava sculpture brought from the area of ​​Nandhiyam.

Thimiri Nandhi Sculpture
A 10th century AD Chola artwork of Nandi brought from the village of Thimiri.

Kurumuddhangal Vinayagar Sculpture
A 17th century AD Nayaka era sculpture. The head, lower arm and the tip of the turban are damaged.
The Timiri turban is an 18th century AD sculpture brought from the village of Timiri.

Apart from these, small Yali sculptures, a Subramaniar sculpture, a Shiva lingam and the roof of the temple are also kept.

Not only these, but also the history of the Nawabs and the forts they built, and the history of the rock paintings around Ranipet are kept as inscriptions.

Conclusion
Although it operates as a small excavation site in the small town of Arcot, it contains a variety of rich and unique archaeological artifacts.
